Kiha 32 is a general type diesel car for warm areas that appeared in 1987 for local lines ahead of the division and privatization of Japan National Railways.

The Yodo Line is a JR Shikoku line connecting Wakai station in Kochi and Kita-Uwajima station in Ehime. Since 2011, three types of themed cars called "Yodo Line Three Brothers" have been introduced with the aim of revitalizing the line.
